About us

Tiro A Segno of New York is the oldest club of Italian heritage in the United States. The tradition of sporting clubs dates back to the eighth century Ravenna, Italy, when those local groups organized tournaments throughout the country. Because Giuseppe Garibaldi played such an active role in Tiro A Segno in Italy, he was instrumental in forming the original Tiro A Segno Nazionale Italiano during his stay in New York in 1888. Our club began with twenty-three Italian sportsmen -- many of them immigrants -- all of whom were highly regarded professionals, including artists, architects, doctors, writers and industrialists. Today, Tiro A Segno of New York is approximately four-hundred men and women who share both a resepct for a great heritage and a love of family, friendship and sportsmanship. Our clubhouse in Greenwich Village welcomes members and their guests to our beautiful dining rooms, and lounges, where one can always overhear Italian spoken in greetings and stories. We also enjoy the sport of our rifle range (staffed and controlled by licensed range-safety officers), our magnificent party facilities and a full program of social and sporting events, including golf outings, fashion shows, theatre groups, target competitions, culural meetings, and holiday festivities. Our cuisine is authentic, from all regions of Italy, and there is never an appetite that cannot be satisfied.
