Behind every bottle of Chianti Classico wine from Italy lies a fascinating tale of tradition and symbolism. Do you know the story of the iconic black rooster? It’s a good one.⁠ ⁠ The story dates back to the Middle Ages when Florence and Siena were in a bitter rivalry over control of the Chianti region. Two knights would depart from their respective cities at the rooster's crow to settle the dispute. Where they met would mark the new border.⁠ ⁠ Legend has it that the Florentines chose a robust black rooster, while the Sienese selected a white one. The Florentines, cunning as ever, fed their rooster well, ensuring it would crow earlier. As a result, the Florentine knight traveled much farther, establishing a larger territory for Florence and securing Chianti under its control.⁠ ⁠ Since then, the black rooster has become the emblem of Chianti Classico wines, symbolizing the region's proud winemaking heritage and the quality standards upheld by its producers. Meet Enrico Chierici, a cycling maestro! Born in the heart of Genova and raised in the hills of Acqui Terme, Enrico's love affair with cycling began early. Gifted his first road bike, a coveted Coppi, for his academic achievements, he embarked on two-wheeled adventures alongside his faithful friend Corrado. At just 13, Enrico embarked on his maiden long-distance ride from Genova, igniting a lifelong passion for exploration. Influenced by his father's love for mountain sports, Enrico soon found himself scaling heights as a National mountaineering ski instructor within the Italian Alpine Club. Despite his mountaineering prowess, Enrico's heart remained tethered to the open road. Transitioning from mountain biking to road cycling, he immersed himself in bike touring, tracing paths through the majestic Alps, the rolling Apennines, and beyond. Enrico's wheels have spun tales of adventure from the Danube Trail to the sun-kissed landscapes of Sicily and Sardinia. In a daring feat of solo exploration, Enrico traversed 2800km through the rugged terrain of Patagonia, a testament to his adventurous spirit and love for the outdoors.
