YMCA to Offer Free Day of Healthy Living Programs for Seniors

National Senior Citizens Day at the YMCA:

When: Saturday, August 21; 8:00am – 12:00 noon

What: Free day of healthy living programs and activities for senior citizens.

Sacramento, CA – Saturday, August 21 is National Senior Citizens Day, which recognizes the seniors who have spent their lives contributing to society and have impacted everyone’s lives for the better. To celebrate, the Sacramento Central YMCA is offering a FREE day at the YMCA for seniors. Community members are invited for a day of group fitness classes, cardio, swimming in our indoor heated pool, and fun activities like pickleball. The Sacramento Central YMCA will be open from 8:00am to 12:00 noon.

“The YMCA’s commitment to healthy living, and social responsibility has not wavered during these critical times” says Sharna Braucks, President & CEO, YMCA of Superior California. “Strengthening both the bonds of community and our seniors will be a focus for us after a year of sheltering and quarantines.” 

Schedule highlights:

  • Lap Swim/Self Exercise: 8 a.m. - 9 a.m.
  • Pickleball: 9 a.m. - 12 p.m.
  • Outdoor Bootcamp: 9 a.m. - 9:50 a.m.
  • Zumba: 10 a.m. - 10:50 a.m.
  • Outdoor Mindful Hatha Yoga: 11 a.m. - 11:50 a.m.

The Sacramento Central YMCA follows all federal, state, and county public health guidelines. Please wear a face covering for all indoor activities as mandated by the County of Sacramento except when swimming in the indoor pool.
