Great spotted cuckoo attacked by a small corn bunting - Clamator glandarius A rare migratory bird in Bulgaria.
The Great spotted cuckoo - Clamator glandarius - is already on my list of photographed species.
It's been a long time since I've experienced such excitement when shooting a new species for me. I don't know how long we wandered around the area when she was last spotted a couple of days ago, hoping to at least see her when she suddenly landed on the road in front of us and started picking caterpillars. I didn't have time to check the camera settings, I just aimed it and pulled the trigger as she jumped back and forth, shoved herself into the bushes, and showed up again, while a corn bunting bothered her and was obviously looking for a confrontation! I am really pleased with this shot! 5. Thank you all for appreciating! In fact, the bunting continued to attack as the cuckoo flew away. Unfortunately, the subsequent photos were not successful, the action was very fast! I wonder if the little bird doesn't sense the cuckoo's parasitic behavior, although as far as I've read, this cuckoo prefers to lay eggs in magpie nests. Posted one year ago

The great spotted cuckoo is a member of the cuckoo order of birds, the Cuculiformes, which also includes the roadrunners, the anis and the coucals. The genus name "clamator" is Latin for "shouter" from "clamare", "to shout". The specific "glandarius" is derived from Latin "glans, glandis", "acorn".
