In Pictures: All-Ireland Field Archery Championships

Irish Times photographer Alan Betson recorded the inaugural championships in Portlaoise over the weekend

The inaugural All-Ireland Field Archery championships took place over the weekend at Fior Bhia Farm in Portlaoise, Co Laois.

The two-day festival organised by The Irish Field Archery Monthly (Tifam) featured archery competitions and workshops, as well as talks at which newcomers to archery were able to try their hand at the sport.

Field archery involves shooting at outdoor targets of varying and often unmarked distances, typically in woodland and rough terrain.
