Talbot Group on a roll

The recent buyers of Oriel House Hotel and the Midleton Park Hotel, the Talbot Group, are on a roll — they’ve just bought a leisure complex in Carlow.

Talbot Group on a roll

Based in Wexford, the family-owned four-star hotel group has acquired The Dome, a complex with 12 bowling lanes, children’s play centre, snooker pool and kids karting, alongside its Talbot Hotel Carlow.

The ten-year-old purpose-built centre, which can be accessed from the hotel, closed earlier this year, but reopened this week after being bought from a receiver for an undisclosed sum.

The Talbot Group paid around €11m in recent months adding two Cork hotels in Ballincollig and Midleton to its now five-strong portfolio which also includes the Talbot Hotel Wexford, and the Stillorgan Park Hotel.

Group MD Philip Gavin, said the purchase meant they now had “the best kids club offering at any hotel right across the country.” The group employs more than 500 people.
