The Sean Treacys hurling and football club was formed in the early sixties, previous to that Rearcross and Kilcommon were affiliated in North

In 1963 and 1964 they won two Junior championships. In 1966 they made the breakthrough to win a county Intermediate championship. In 1968 they won their first West Tipperary Senior championship, the first of seven up to 1982.

Sean Treacy’s are now back in Junior ‘A’ but at present playing well and could be seen at the top again in the near future.

This is a good year to date for Sean Treacy’s. On January 30th the Junior footballers won the County semi-final against Thurles in Templederry on the score of 3-4 to 1-5. The County final was played on February 7th at Sean Treacy Park , Tipp Town, Sean Treacy’s lost by 4 points to Fethard 1-10 to 1-6. HURLING

The juveniles, U/12 and U/14 won two West Tipperary Championships, bringing home the trophies, U/14 defeated Fr. Sheehy’s, South champions in the County semi-final by 6-8 to 1-3 but lost to Borrisokane in the final by just two points, 0-7 to 1-2. In the U/12 championship Treacy’s had wins over Rosegreen and Solohead at home venues. In the semi-final they defeated Emly at Sean Treacy’s Park, 2-3 to 0-3. They defeated Éire Óg Annacarty in the West final at Cappawhite by 3 points in a hard fought game. A few days later they played St. Patrick’s, Drangan, in the County semi-final at New Inn, but being a tired team they lost 2-5 to 1-1. On July 27th the U/14’s defeated Cappawhite in Cappawhite 1-3 to 0-4 and went on to win the West final agaist Lattin-Cullen 4-6 to 1-6.

In charge of the juveniles were Pat Carey, Loughbrack (manager) assisted by his selectors: J.J. Ryan, Gurt, Milestone, John Hickey, Knockbrittas, Jimmy Nolan, Rearcross. There are many to be thanked for this fine bunch of hurlers and their achievements. A special tribute to Father Jim Foley, who laid the foundations when he came to the parish six years ago and now that he is leaving, transferred to Drom-Inch, we wish him every success and thank him for all his training sessions, thanks to the teachers in the three schools and once again congratulations to Mr. Corcoran, N.T. Rearcross on winning the North Tipp Schools Shield last season, and a final thank you to all the parents who helped so well and so much for the juveniles.

In the minor championship at Cappawhite, Treacy’s defeated Lattin Cullen 4-14 to 2-6 and defeated Cappawhite 3-9 to 1-7 before losing to Galtee Rovers in the final. At Kilcommon on Monday 16th August the U/16 game between Solohead and Sean Treacy’s ended in a draw. This was played in a league basis so Sean Treacy’s having already lost a game were out. On Saturday 29th May Sean Treacy’s defeated Clonoulty in Golden 3-10 to 1-8 in the Junior ‘A’ hurling and on July 31st they defeated Emly 2-15 to 4-2. On Saturday 18th September they drew with Emly 1-8 each. Treacy’s won the replay on Sunday 26th September on a scoreline of 1-6 to 1-3. Treacy’s now play Galtee Rovers in the West final.
