Ilkley are among 15 clubs to have won a 2012 Rugby Football Union President’s XV award.

Thanks to their £1.8m clubhouse,at Stacks Field they have lifted the Better Facilities category and will receive £500.

The citation reads: “Ilkley RUFC needed to replace its old club changing rooms from 1928 but the estimated cost was £1.4m.

“Since 2007 a thorough fund-raising campaign in- volving the club, the RFU, the Rugby Football Found- ation, Sport England and the entire Ilkley community has been undertaken.

“The project became a community sports club rather than rugby club to consolidate fund-raising.

“The new building opened in September 2011 and already participation in rugby has significantly increased.”

o Coach Rhys Morgan will miss Ilkley’s Yorkshire Divi- sion One home clash with Huddersfield YMCA to spy on his team’s National Intermediate Cup rivals Stoke.

Assistant coach Neil Spence will be in charge of the team and Morgan says he hopes his players will not be distracted by the cup.

He said: “YMCA are looking to pull away from relegation so they will want to upset us.

“It is important we focus on our league encounters.”

Back rowers Liam Copsey and Iain McKenzie are unavailable but winger Jack Revell and hooker Ben Fear are back.
