Petanque enthusiasts are invited to a free event to try out the sport in May at the Molescroft Beverley Petanque Club in Beverley.

As part of Commuted Sums from local housing developments, Molescroft Parish Council was awarded £20,600 from the earlier this year.

As a result of the funding, we have been able to extend the petanque court at the Molescroft Pavilion. This was done with the help of funds from the Parish Council and the Do It For East Yorkshire Fund.

Molescroft Petanque Club was able to increase its capacity with the funding it received. This saw them extend the existing petanque piste and also by building a new one.

Molescroft Beverley Petanque Club will open its doors to anyone who wants to try out petanque on Sunday, 15 May, from 10am – 3pm. This event is open to both beginners and advanced players alike.

Mike Hildyard, Chair of Molescroft Parish Council said;

“Molescroft Petanque Club is a true community club, and now that we have been able to extend and build new facilities.”

“We are looking forward to hosting an event where we can show the community what we have, and give them a chance to have a go.”

Thierry Condette, Chair of Molescroft Beverley Petanque Club said;

“We are wanting to share our passion for petanque and we are wanting to develop a youth development programme at the Club. We will also be looking forward to hosting matches against other teams from across the region.”

Not only will there be the opportunity for you to take part in a petanque game, but there will also be other things to do when you attend the event.
