Old Tauntonians & Romsey cricketers have been busy picking up prestigious weekly Southern Premier League performance awards as the club pushes on with its promising Division 2 promotion campaign.
All-rounder Hakim Peruzi collected his award for a dramatic match turning display against round 10 opponents Langley Manor, writes Mike Vimpany.
OTs were reeling at 21-6 when Peruzi arrived at the crease to crack 68 and point his side to a match winning 206. He then took an early wicket as OTs went on to win by 47 runs.
Harry Tulk's amazing 96-run blitz which led to SPL2 leaders Waterlooville losing their unbeaten record earned the left-hander his prize.
Tulk smacked six maximums and eight fours, scoring 96 off 56 balls as OTs piled up 243-6 before pegging the Ville to 198-8.
That win put OTs & Romsey to within 11 points of Waterlooville at the top with four matches to play. With Portsmouth & Southsea well adrift, both clubs are virtually assured promotion.
OTs final matches are against St Cross Symondians II, Portsmouth & Southsea, Liphook & Ripsley and then relegated Sparsholt on September 2.
