Open Day success for South Wales Bowls and Recreation Centre

With Covid-19 restrictions starting to ease, South Wales Bowls and Recreation Centre its first Open Day of 2021 on Saturday. The Centre welcomed an exceptionally high number of new visitors of all ages to the arena, ranging from experienced outdoor bowlers to new converts to the sport, all looking for an indoor past-time which would give them an interest and improve their physical and mental well-being.

With the outdoor bowls season drawing to a close the club received numerous membership applications from members of bowling clubs throughout the Vale of Glamorgan; all eager to continue their sport throughout the winter in the comfort of the Sully Indoor Bowls Arena.

A team of professionally trained coaches gave brief coaching lessons as visitors enjoyed the experience of playing on the indoor bowling rinks; the outdoor Pétanque rinks also received a lot of interest together with Corn Hole, a game originating from America and played with miniature bean bags.

A second Open Day will be held on Saturday 4th September from 12noon to 2.00pm where a team of bowls and petanque coaches will again be on hand to give initial training and advice. Visitors of all ages and physical capabilities, including wheelchair users, are encouraged to try the facilities available.
