While Aberdeenshire and Kincardine Bowling Clubs cannot win the north section of Scottish Playdowns, they must win on Saturday against League leaders Bon Accord (Aberdeen) to secure a vital second place.
They must finish at least second to go into the Scottish playdowns, but it will be a tough match writes correspondent Mike Barron.
He explained - A defeat here gives a permutation for three sides.
A & K , Northern Counties or Angus could take the second qualifying place if they win on Saturday.
Last Saturday’s game was crucial and they so nearly lost it against Northern Counties, finally winning 119-111.
A & K took an early lead going 18 shots up at end 6, but Northern Counties came back to be 18 shots up at end 18.
Then came the fight back with the Jason Banks’ (Inverurie) rink of John Simpson (Laurencekirk). Geoff Allan (Pitmedden), and Marshall Presley (Tarves) scoring regularly to win 21-11.
Father Colin (Inverurie) too, had a fine win 21-15.
With four ends to go the score Northern Counties 111- A & K 110.
Two ends to go 111-115.
A further four shots saw a 111-119 win, and two points.
Other scores:- Matt Campbell (Rothienorman) 18-19, Steven Fraser (Pitmedden), 24-11, Mark MacIntosh (Tarves) 15-23, and Andy Duncan 19-22
The present league position -

With two fixtures to go if A & K lose to Bon Accord, and assuming Northern Counties win by more than 5 shots against Highland, they take
second place, and with an easy match against Dundee will take the playdown place.
This puts extra pressure on A & K.
Aberdeen & Kincardine Bowling team are looking forward to what will prove to be a must win or a defeat by few shots on Saturday at Rothienorman.
There are only two points in it.
How they must regret a below performance against Dundee when they lost by 5 shots in the second week of the competition.
The score Dundee 120 A & K 115.
Dundee are bottom of the League with but one win against A & K.
Assuming a loss against Bon Accord it is a must win against Angus in the final week.
The Aberdeen team have a vastly better shots for, and against, holding plus 202 against 114 for A & K.
On Saturday Bon Accord had an easy win against Highland by 31 shots.
The City team were always ahead and finished 124-93.
This is one of the closest leagues in many a season, and A & K must be at their best in the next two weeks to take second place, and hope
others drop points.
11 of the A & K team are also members of the Garioch Indoor Bowling Club with both reserves also members.
