A master in the art of sublimating the female body, Sam Haskins (1926-2009) constantly experimented with and renewed the photographic nude in the 1960s and 1970s.
This image from the 1967 book November Girl is emblematic of the artist’s golden age. Characteristic of his desire to experiment, it is among 120 photographs from the 1960s and 1970s being offered up at Drouot on September 29. “This auction is exceptional not only because few of Sam Haskins' prints are circulating in France, but also because the group on sale comes from the photographer's estate, managed by his son,” says photography expert Charlotte Barthélemy. “Selected from the photographer's archives, the prints are very well preserved.
