With the cold weather coming, a lot of sports will shut down for the season. And Durham residents may be looking for an indoor activity to stay in shape over the winter.
Enter Rally Sports Club as an option: Play badminton in a new, roughly 13,500-square-foot facility on the Oshawa/Whitby border.
“We … provide indoor badminton courts for rent and coaching classes,” says co-owner and co-founder Shikha Somwanshi. “Our vision is to make sure that anyone who wishes to master the sport has everything they need. Be it courts or equipment or accessibility, Rally Sports Club is committed to make sure that we provide the best of any and everything to the players.”

Rally Sports Club features eight, world-class courts, made out of Badminton World Federation-approved Grade-1 mats that are available for rent. The club also rents and sells equipment and offers badminton lessons for kids of different abilities.
Somwanshi said she “struggled to find a facility that would support her and her kids’ passion for badminton.” She met Ankitha Joshi and both realized the issue wasn’t just the availability of a facility, but also “the challenge of supporting their children’s will to follow their passion.” This led them to open Rally Sports Club at 1155 Boundary Rd., Unit 6, Oshawa. It’s just south of Wentworth Street and west of Thornton Road South.
