CúChulainn Archers impress at championships across the country

CúChulainn Archers Gilbert McClelland

The end of last month saw Ballyvally Archers, Banbridge host the Annual Bluebell Arrowhead Competition at Loughbrickland.
This competition takes place over two days.

On day 1, the archers shot at 24 unmarked targets - so they must guess the distance - and on Sunday the distances to the target are at marked distances.

Each target has different coloured 'pegs' where the archer stands to shoot and where you stand depends on your bow style and age category, with the Senior Compound at the farthest distance and cadets (children) being at the closest distance.

In what turned out to be a very satisfactory day for CúChulainn Archers. Philip Fitzpatrick took Gold in the Men's Compound 50+ (red peg), Alan Convery, Silver in the Senior Men's Compound (red peg), with Gilbert McClelland also taking Silver in the Barebow 720 competition (blue peg).

The Muckamore Company of Archers also hosted a 720 competition. CúChulainn members placed very well in the Men's Senior Compound, taking the top four spots with Darrell Wilson taking first, Kevin Donnelly 2nd, Alan Canvery third and Oisin Donnelly just missing out on a medal in fourth.

Meanwhile in the Barebow category, Neil Keeble recorded a very good result for the club when he grabbed second spot Congratulations to all who took part.

Charity Shoot

A Double 720 Charity Shoot took place at the National Sports Campus in Dublin recently. This event, which takes place every year, was hosted by Millennium Archers in aid of St Francis' Hospice. This well attended event saw Brendan Forde of CúChulainn come in 7th place.

3D Tournament

White Wolf Archery Club hosted a 3D Tournament in the beautiful grounds of Drewstown House, County Meath.  The competition was over 28 targets at unmarked distances.

Brothers-in-law Neil Keeble and Kevin Donnelly competed for CúChulainn Archers. This was Kevin's first 3D competition and, competing as a Compound archer, he was really pleased with his score. Meanwhile Neil, competing at Barebow, came home with a Silver Medal.  Well done to all.
