Read a round up of this weekend’s ladies results.

The firsts took all three points from Fylde, this means that the ladies are just one point off the top spot. For the second game running, Hull were the opposition for our seconds, this time the ladies came out on top with a comfortable victory.
Pushing away from the bottom of the table with a triumph against bottom side Thirsk, the thirds scored four goals in an entertaining affair. A double game weekend for the fours which saw them pick up four points from a possible six.

Results:
L1 1-0 Fylde
L2 2-0 Kingston upon Hull
L3 4-2 Thirsk
L4 3-1 Dronfield
L4 2-2 Rotherham

L1: This week Doncaster welcomed Fylde to the John Marshall Arena. After a tough loss last week, Doncaster were prepared for a battle. The game was very end to end with Fylde winning a coupe of Penalty Corners however Doncaster managed to clear, setting up a counter attack. Doncaster entered the D where Jay was immediately bundled over and awarded a Penalty Flick. Ellie calmly stepped up and scored. Final result 1-0.

L2: Doncaster took on Kingston-Upon-Hulls 2s at the John Marshall Arena. After playing their first team the previous week and putting up a great performance, but narrowly losing to them, the Ladies 2s were full of confidence. The match started well for the home side, who pressed the opposition into the last third of the pitch with constant attacks. Their reward came in the 14th minute with a well worked goal from open play scored by Erin Yates. Doncaster continued to control the match, with Hull having to rely on a big hit to get the ball deep into our half. This was easily picked up by captain Ali March as Centre Back. Late in the first half, a green card was shown to Hull and Doncaster continued to press. The second half saw Doncaster still dominating the play but Hull were starting to have a little more success with their attacking moves. Stand-in goalkeeper, Hannah Dickerson, made some good saves to deny the Hull forwards. There was no change to the scoreline by the time the half time whistle went. 15 mins into the second half, Doncaster scored a second goal with Alice Jacobs latching onto a rebound to find the Hull net. This seemed to give Doncaster renewed confidence and they started to play some expansive hockey. Late in the second half, Hull received another green card. Doncaster confidently saw out the rest of the half to win the match 2 nil. The 3 points lifted Doncaster a little further away from the relegation zone in the table. Next week is another home match, this time it is against Slazenger.

L3: A sunny trip up the A1 took our Ladies 3s to Thirsk. Some brilliant passing play led to some good possession for Doncaster but Thirsk broke and took the lead, not letting this get us down, we quickly took back possession and, with some lovely play down the right hand, the ball was pulled back to the P spot where Amy Clarke was stood waiting to slap the ball into the bottom corner. More high pressing from the Doncaster side led to multiple turn overs and chances created, but we just couldn’t get the second before Thirsk punted a long ball through to their high attacker who took the lead again. Doncaster came back for a second time with a short corner routine that was worked nicely between Esther Latham and Connie Crowther, where Connie managed to find the bottom right corner with a lovely finish. Doncaster then kept the pressure on the Thirsk back line and a direct run by Greta Highfield tore the back 4 apart, which she finished off with a lovely cheeky reserve flick just before half time! A rousing half time talk from Paige pumped up an already confident Doncaster side and we were ready to go again!
Second half and playing into the sun, Doncaster were playing with a new found confidence with lovely play all around the pitch. Doncaster then won some more short corners with the last goal being pushed in by Elinor Wood for a final score of 4-2.
A brilliant performance from the girls!

Player of the match was awarded to Elinor Wood

L4: Ladies 4s have had a busy double game weekend. A 1-0 win against Dronfield on Saturday where we had the majority of the possession and the majority of the chances. The highlights being a goal line “Superwoman” save by Jill B in the first half. And the break through goal by Connie F in the second half. Great solid team performance again.
On Sunday we played Rotherham, resulting in a 2-2 draw. An end to end game, with outstanding midfield performances. 2 goals from Connie F.
