KEEN Photographer and current President of St.Mungo Bowling Club at Kettleholm, Dumfries and Galloway ‘Andrew Murray’ Contacted DGWGO this week to let us know all about a wee project he has been doing to help raise funds for his bowling club.
Andrew told DGWGO “I thought to raise funds for the bowling club at Kettleholm which only has a small membership, I could use my interest in photography that I do in my spare time. With bowling and photography being two of my hobbies it seemed like a great idea to mix the two together and produce the Calendar for Club funds .
“I visited all the 11 bowling Clubs in Annandale and Eskdale, I rounded the total to 12 so I had a picture for each month by including my personal favourite New Abbey. With the season coming to an end I thought the calendar would bring a little cheer during the winter months as well as the rest of the next year.”
Andrew also said “I was pleased to go round the clubs and take the pictures .It brought home to me how lucky we are to be in Dumfries and Galloway and to have so many excellent greens,all with their unique character. Bowling is a fantastic sport for all to enjoy, and I hope my calendar brings a tiny bit of joy to anyone who loves the sport and our beautiful region.”
The main Photo is one Andrew had taken of himself with his own Camera while at the opening of the 2015 season at his club. Andrew is on the right with blazer on .
The calendar features photos of Beechgrove, Lockerbie, Lochmaben, New Abbey, Annan,Eastriggs Dornock, Gretna, Canonbie, St.Mungo, Eaglesfield, Langholm Old Town and Langholm New Town Bowling clubs.
