Clean sweep for Graisnock Park as they retain Ayrshire bowls title

HOLDERS Glaisnock Valley retained their Ayrshire Top Ten title at Ayr Bowling Club on Sunday.

They raced to an 8-0 win over Newton Park after winning the singles (21-16), pairs (14-11), triples (16-10) and fours (17-14).

Hurlford’s Margaret McLean and Graham Peacock won the mixed pairs, beating Auchinleck’s Sandra Milligan and Francis Leitch 17-13.

In the semis, Auchinleck beat Dalry 20-12 while Hurlford beat Crosshill 13-12.

The climax of the outdoor bowling season comes at Forehill this weekend with the champion of champions and McDonald-Agnew finals.

Quarter-final ties in the McDonald-Agnew at Forehill on Friday (6.15pm) are: Jim Keir (Prestwick) v Alan Happel (Northfield); Stuart Yates (Crooksmoss) v Ken Barr (Forehill); Stuart Reid (Ayr) v Derek Lang (Hawkhill); Dan Scott (Wattfield) v Jamie McRoberts (Hawkhill).

Semis are on Sunday at 12.15pm with the final at 2.30pm.

The gents champion of champions starts on Saturday at 10am. First round ties: R McKnight (Forehill) v S Wyllie (Seafield); Crooksmoss v W Cole (Kincaidston); J Houston (Prestwick) v Northfield; S Darroch (Craigie) v D Shields (Wattfield). Byes to second round: A Marshall (Newton Park), J Cuthbertson (Peter Boyle), N Davey (Ayr), J McRoberts (Hawkhill).

Second round is at 2pm on Saturday with the semis on Sunday at 10am and the final at 2.30pm.

The ladies champion of champions starts on Saturday at noon with second round at 4pm. Semi-finals and final on Sunday.

Gents and senior leagues start on Monday with AM Fours at 10.15am, triples on Tuesday at 10.15am and 12.15pm, senior open triples on Wednesday at 10.15am and 12.15pm and gents senior fours on Thursday at 10.15am.
