Robbie Savage's Strictly partner Ola Jordan looks glum... perhaps the footballer devotes too much energy to carrying his 'manbags'

Footballer Robbie Savage has confessed some doubts as to whether he would be up to the challenge of appearing on Strictly Come Dancing.

And judging by his partner Ola Jordan's glum expression as they left practice yesterday, those fears appear to have some merit.

The pair looked despondent as they headed to a Cheshire hotel.

Robbie's Twitter page confirmed that they had not had their most successful session.

'At the min it should be #teamola cos I'm just not getting it and am a massive week link is it ever gonna be #teamsavola ! Hope so !' the 36-year-old tweeted this evening.

However he gave credit to his long-suffering partner, enthusing: '#teamsavola we need some work ! Wow @StrictlyOla is so patient !!'

Robbie appeared to be carrying much more luggage for their hotel stay than his diminutive companion, who one would expect to be far more laden with clothes and products than the sportsman.

This doesn't quite tally with the hardcore football reputation which saw Robbie named the 'dirtiest' player in the Premier League in 2008

Perhaps Robbie is looking to clean up his act in more ways than one.

Nevertheless, he may be in danger of drawing further attention to his changing image.

The possibility that he might be made fun of for competing on a glittery dance show has worried the star.

'I think Lee Dixon, Kevin Keegan and Chris Moyles will be the worst culprits,' he told the Mirror.

'Plus, no doubt I'll get some stick on Twitter from the likes of Rio Ferdinand. I know they're all going to hammer me but I'm ready for it,' he added.

Nevertheless there was a ray of hope for the beleaguered pair, who appeared to cheer up as they shared a joke upon reaching the hotel.
