Creston martial artists had a metallic weekend in Calgary.

On Saturday, November 11, eight members of Dragon Martial Arts Academy - Creston took part in the annual Summit Open Martial Arts Tournament in Calgary.

The tournament had more than 200 competitors from various martial arts (such as Tae Kwon-Do, Karate, Kung Fu, and Kickboxing) representing schools in Alberta, B.C., and beyond.

Creston’s Tae Kwon-Do athletes competed in Sparring and Martial Arts forms, bringing home two bronze medals, two silver, and one gold medal.

“The level of competition at this tournament was very high, and our members did a great job of stepping up to the occasion,” said Derek Hall, head instructor of Dragon Martial Arts Academy - Creston. “While not every matchup went our way, everyone got invaluable experience that will benefit them in the future.

“I am always proud of each of their sportsmanship, determination, and skill earned through their hard work every class.”
