BANK Holiday Monday saw Crediton Bowling Club President, Joan Martin, host an afternoon for club members and friends.

A total of 30 members played bowls and they were joined by another 20 who came to enjoy the afternoon.

This started with a spider where all those playing took a position around the green.

After a countdown one bowl was released towards the Jack, which was placed in the middle of the green.

Maggie Chaplin was the closest and received a bottle of wine.

There then followed 16 ends of bowls for everyone, which was followed by an excellent tea.

A draw took place with all the funds raised going towards the President’s Charity.

The sun shone throughout and a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon was had by all.

Mark Theedom gave a vote of thanks and also organised the bowling activities.

During the week three friendlies brought about mixed results.

In the first leg of the Pat Moon Trophy, played at Topsham, a win by five shots was achieved to bring back for the second leg to be played in Crediton in early September.

A disappointing home defeat to Starcross was then followed by a thumping 127-83 win over Combe Martin.

After four weeks of the Exeter Over 60s League the A team top the table after their latest 6-2 victory away to Madeira A.

The B and C teams lie fifth in their respective leagues after both suffering 8-0 losses.
