BIG MATCH PREVIEW
SEVENOAKS TOWN v CRAY VALLEY (PM)
8th APR 2023 – KICK OFF 3pm
PITCHING IN ISTHMIAN LEAGUE – SOUTH EAST DIVISION
The Oaks under manager Harry Hudson currently sit in 9th place having played 33 games, eight points off a play off place. After being tipped by many to be among the front runners this season, Oaks made an indifferent start to the season - languishing in the relegation zone until mid-October despite enjoying a run to the 4th round qualifying of the FA Cup where they were defeated at National South Ebbsflett United. Fortunes in the league have since seen an upturn although after a run of four consecutive wins their last four games have been winless, losing the last three to play off contenders Whitehawk 3-1, Sheppey United 3-0 and more recently Hythe Town 1-0. Their game at Littlehampton Town last Saturday was postponed due to the weather. Top league goalscorer for the Oaks this season is Freddie Parker on nine with Solomon Baugh now on eight.
In the game between the two sides at the Artic Stadium played on a bitterly cold evening at the beginning of February the visitors won by the only goal of the game scored by Solomon Baugh on the stroke of half time. This was acknowledged at the time to be one of the Millers poorest performances of the season. Manager Tommy Osborne will be looking for an improvement this time around. With perhaps the exception of Barney Williams, who was still feeling the effects of a hamstring injury on Saturday, Tommy should have an almost full squad to choose from.
It promises to be a tough challenge for the Millers at the Bourne Stadium, Greatness Park on the excellent 3G surface which was first laid in 2017. It is a ground they have not won at since September 2013 when goals from Gary Cooke, Tunde Aderonmu and Ryan Sawyer gave them a 3-2 victory. The stakes are high as the Millers look to hold onto the play off spot on which they currently sit under pressure from the chasing clubs just below them.
