MASON, Ohio – Adventure Port, a new themed area featuring two new family rides, will open at Kings Island on Saturday.
In addition to the two new rides, the area features new places to eat and drink, plus a rethemed Adventure Express family roller coaster. The new area, announced last fall, was initially expected to open in April, but was delayed earlier this year.
The area is located near the front of the park, between Action Zone and Coney Mall.
The two new rides are Sol Spin, featuring a central wheel that spins riders through the air at 25 mph, and Cargo Loco, a traditional tea-cup style ride with a cargo company theme. Both are rides from Italian manufacturer Zamperla.
Also in the area: Enrique’s, formerly Hank’s Mexican Grill, with burrito bowls, tacos and salads; and the Mercado, formerly the Bier Garten, with food, shopping and a full-service bar.
The park describes the new area’s theme this way: “Adventure Port is a hub for explorers searching for an ancient civilization’s forbidden temple and mysterious wonders.”
The area will be open to the public at 10 a.m. Saturday. Kings Island is open 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily. Information: visitkingsisland.com
