CLACTON Swimming Club have been represented on the national stage.

Their senior synchronised swimming team went to London's Aquatic Centre, where they competed in the National Combo Cup.

They were up against many of the top teams in the country.

In the last year, the team, consisting of Thea Longden, Millie Hearne, Mia Lawrence, Rosie Adamson and Fran Cottee, who was unable to make the national event, have won three golds and one silver medal in Regional competitions.

Unfortunately, they did not medal on this occasion but still swam very well.

Coach Lisa Lawrence said: "I'm so proud of everything the team have achieved.

"They work hard and deserve the recognition they're starting to receive.

"They were the smallest team in the Combo Cup, which makes it difficult to achieve the scores of the larger clubs.

"However, they swam the best I've seen in any competition.

"We hope to go back next year with more swimmers and experience."

Clacton also had a representative in the national water polo Inter-Regional Cup.

Jack Gibson, who trains at Clacton and plays for Chelmsford, was picked to play for the East Region in Blackpool.

The East Region played exceptionally well and finished fourth overall.
