A SPORTS awards ceremony at Tendring Technology College was hailed a huge success.

Successful students were presented with awards for each year group, members of the sports council, dancer of the year, team of the year, Volleyball Academy player of the year and the college lifetime achievement award.

Former Surrey Storm netball player and college pupil, Lucy Adam’s attended the event as guest speaker. Winners included, Ellie Challis who competes for Colchester Phoenix Swimming Club, and competed at the British Junior Para Championships, winning four golds and achieving four new personal bests.

Myles Ashforth was a member of the England U15 foil and épée squads, and ranked high in épée and fencing UK championships.

The team of the year was the Year 10 football team, who have been NEESA winners for the fourth year running.

he Volleyball Academy award was presented to Sophie Lane for her outstanding achievement in representing Tendring.

PE teacher James Wiper said: “The PE department would like to thank all the parents/guardians for their support and congratulate all the nominees for each of the sporting awards.
