Local MMA fighters impress at recent events
The club has been building world-class amateur MMA athletes in the Roodepoort community.
Former Extreme Fighting Championship (EFC) worldwide professional athlete, personal trainer, and Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) coach, Janus de Lange is proud of his fighters who have shown impressive growth and determination at the recent fighting events.
The former General Manager of Gym Company in Flora Centre told the Record that he has some amazing talent at their small club and believes his athletes deserve some recognition for their hard work and commitment.
According to De Lange, in the Roodepoort area, there are only so many clubs of this kind competing in the Greater African Fighting Championships (GFC) with Mixed Martial Arts South Africa (MMASA) and Martial Arts South Africa (MASA) certificates and accreditation.
In April 2022, RaptoRock MMA and Fitness opened in Florida and competed in four GFC events.
Since then, the club has been building world-class amateur MMA athletes in the Roodepoort community.
Aiden Clapper represented the club and was second to none winning his event in GFC while Moses Makara from Sierra Leone and Jefferson Khumalo also represented the club with distinction.
Werner “Lappies” Labuschagne won a silver medal at his first submission grappling event at Carousel Casino while Steven Page won a gold medal at his debut MMA event at GFC.
RaptoRock MMA and Fitness which are a Level 3 BEEE-certified enterprise have classes from 6pm to 8pm during weekdays.
