Yin-Yang Karate and Self Defense Studio hosted the Clash of the Dragons karate competition at N.G. Kerk Renosterpoort in Ladanna last Saturday.

POLOKWANE – This is an annual competition which features weapons kata, kata and kumite styles. More than six dojos and 88 karatekas, aged six years and older, from various provinces participated in the all-styles martial arts competition. Parents came in their numbers to support their children.

Among the clubs were Limpopo Sport Karate and Kickboxing Academy, Kofukan Louis Trichardt, Kofukan Levubu and Kofukan Messina. Yin-Yang Karate and Self Defense Studio owner Annatjie de Jager said it was a successful event and next year they plan to host an ever bigger competition.

“Thanks to N.G. Kerk Renosterpoort who let us host the event on their premises, and to everyone who made the event a success,” she said. Annatjie would also like to thank their sponsors; ER24 Limpopo manager Brian Allchin for the water bottles, Levant for the platters, Destiny Inn Guesthouse for sleep-in and breakfast vouchers, Van Niekerk Nursery, Timefusion, Nguni Grill, Salon Hannemie, Salon Split Endz, Pets and Hobbies and Driver Centre and Tyre Fitment.

Yin-Yang sponsored training vouchers to the competitors to sharpen their skills. “Good sportsmanship was shown throughout the day,” Annatjie concluded.
