Why this petition matters

Started by Phil Scouller

The Mirfield Cricket Club Pavilion roof is in a dire state of repair. The building is a key feature of the Mirfield Memorial Ground which were subscribed for by the people of Mirfield to commemorate the memory of the men who fell in the Great War 1914-1918. The property is now owned and managed by Kirklees Council who have neglected the fabric of the building for several years due to budget cuts. The building is home to Mirfield Cricket Club, Mirfield Pétanque Club and Norristhorpe u7’s and u8’s football teams. It offers sport, recreation and social benefit to a wide cross section of the community. Internally the building is maintained by the Cricket Club and significant funds have been raised and invested in their refurbishment. The condition of the roof, which is now leaking into the clubhouse, is putting the interior of the clubhouse at risk. Rapid action is required to make good the roof, ideally by replacing in full, to secure the long term future of the facility. Please take a moment to sign this petition and support our cause.
