Scott 500cc

Owned and raced by one of the founding members of the Vintage Motorcycle Club, C.E. ‘Titch’ Allen, OBE.

The late Charles Edmund ‘Titch’ Allen OBE owned and modified this Scott 500cc from 1942. ‘Titch’ said the purchase of this 1930 Scott was the catalyst for starting The Vintage Motorcycle Club, which runs to this day.

Based on a 1923 Scott Squirrel Road bike, it started its race career in 1925 and went on to win handicap races at Mallory Park and Cadwell Park. The bike originally had a two-speed gearbox with no separate clutch which made the required “race bump starts” very difficult. ‘Titch’ solved this by designing and installing his own system.
