DESPITE having the home team advantage, Victoria Park B.C. suffered a heavy defeat when they played against Taunton Deane B.C. in the West Somerset League (2) and as a result slip down the league table.

The team from Taunton were well ahead of Pete Bell (lead), Ralph Bicton (2nd) and Paul Edmonds (skip) early on in the game.

After the half way point the home team found their form yet the visitors kept the Victoria team at bay who were unable to close the gap, losing 9-17.

Gail Wills (lead), Steve Parker (2nd) and Pat Bell (skip) had a disappointing start yet managed to make an impact leading up to the half way stage. The visitors responded to the threat and took control of the jack to dominate the second half to win 6-19.

Sally Trunks (lead), Andy Priest (2nd), and Colin Gay (skip), were left standing by the Taunton team early in the game.

The Victoria team replied, and finding their form were able to dominate the second half to draw level before an exciting finish. In a dramatic last end, were the game could have gone to either team, Victoria were unable to keep on the jack. The Taunton team won the game 16-18.

The final score of 31-54 meant that Taunton Deane took all 12 league points. 

Victoria remain on 52 points and slip further down the league table.
