KNIGHTON TOWN FC

Knighton Town have moved quickly to appoint a new manager following the resignation of Adam Worton. Adriano Giralami has been named as the new boss of the Radnor Robins and chairman, Gary Cooper says he is delighted to welcome him to Bryn-y-Castell.

Cooper said “We are looking forward to working with Adriano as he has a vast knowledge of the game and will be beneficial in bringing on the youngsters at the club.

The experienced Girloami is no stranger to the Spar Mid Wales League having previously manager Newbridge and Presteigne, who he led to the first division title in 2006-2007

Girolami assisted Newbridge in Spar Two last season as a player and in a coaching capacity.

Knighton begin training on Thursday June 21 at 6.45pm and any new players are welcome to attend and can ring Adriano on 077997 37661.

Knighton are holding their annual meeting on Thursday June 28 at 7pm at the clubhouse and everyone is welcome to attend.

SPAR MID WALES LEAGUE

It is as you were in the Mid Wales League next season with officers all elected en bloc following last Monday night’s annual meeting at Llanidloes golf club. General Secretary, Phil Woosnam will continue into his 12th season in the role while Paul Worts will be the referees appointment secretary for his ninth term.

Division One next season will again comprise of sixteen teams in what could be the penultimate season for the Mid Wales League with the restructuring coming in two years time. Llanrhaeadr have been accepted into the Huws Gray Alliance as Spar first division Champions and will play their home games at Llansantffraid. Caersws were relegated from The Alliance.

Second division Champions, Builth Wells and runners-up, Llansantffraid will be promoted to Spar One while Borth United and Machynlleth are relegated to Spar Division Two.

Division One will be made up of: Aberaeron, Berriew, Bow Street, Builth Wells, Caersws, Carno, Churchstoke, Kerry, Knighton Town, Llandrindod Wells, Llanfair United, Llanidloes Town, Llansantffraid Village, Radnor Valley, Tywyn Bryncrug and Welshpool Town.

In Division Two, Rhayader Town will move up as Mid Wales (South) League Champions while the other new teams are Four Crosses and Waterloo Rovers plus the relegated teams from the first division. Talgarth Town pulled out of the league with just four games remaining and will play in the Mid Wales league (South) next term while Penybont have also opted to return to the (South).

Tregaron and Trewern withdrew their applications to join the league.

Division Two next season will comprise: Abermule, Aberystwyth University, Borth United, Brecon Northcote, Dolgellau, Dyffryn Banw, Four Crosses, Hay St Marys, Machynlleth, Montgomery Town, Newbridge, Presteigne, Rhayader Town, Waterloo Rovers.

MID WALES LEAGUE (SOUTH)

Twelve teams will compete in the Mid Wales League (South) for the 2018-2019 season. That was the news to emerge from Monday night’s annual meeting with Penybont and Talgarth Town both returning after a season in the Spar Mid Wales League. Rhayader Town have been promoted to Spar Two and were wished well by league officials with The Red Kites hopefully as well going to run a team in the Mid Wales (South) for the 2019-2020 campaign.

The League will again be called the Watson Financial Mid Wales League (South) and chairman Ed Parry thanked all the sponsors, Roger Watson, Pip Samuel who sponsors the Radnorshire Cup and Mr and Mrs Waston of the Aspidistra, who back the Radnorshire Cup.

The 2018-2019 season will commence on Saturday August 18 wityh the Summer Cup Final to ve played prior to that. As Rhayader won the League and Cup double, Llanidloes Town and Presteigne Reserves, runners up in bothy competitions, will contest this.

Treasurer, Phil Woosnam said the League had made a slight loss on the season while the Radnorshire Cup had made a profit due largely to a bumper gate at the Final between Knighton Town and Radnor Valley at Presteigne on Easter Sunday. He thanked both Presteigne and Builth Wells for the efficient manner in which they hosted this season s Finals.

Secretatry Paul Worts thanked all clubs for completing their fixtures with the minimum of fuss. He said that the weather had made the second part of the season very frustrating with waterlogged pitches causing a catalogue of postponements.

He also thanked all referees, particularly those from the Radnor Referees Association.

Mr Parry and Mr Lewis will represent the league on the Central Wales FA.

Will Lloyd-Williams, MBE, CWFA Chairman and a member of The FAW addressed the meeting and presented the Team of the Month awards for the season.

LLANDRINDOD WELLS FC

Llandrindod Wells FC are holding their annual meeting on Friday, June 29. The meetijgn wil take place at the clubhouse at 7pm and everyone interested in football in the town is urged to attend.

SPAR MID WALES LEAGUE

Welshpool Town’s Wil Thomas was the recipient of the Golden Boot in the Spar Mid Wales League first division. The much travelled striker was the first division top goalscorer with 36 goals in league and cup.

In Division two, the Golden Boot Winner was Nathan Prodger of Llansantffraid Vi9llage whose 38 goals helped The Saints to promotion to Division One.

PRESTEIGNE ST ANDREWS FC

Presteigne St Andrews FC begin their pre-season friendlies away at Bartestree on Tuesday July 10. Manager, Shaun Harris, who begins his second season in command at Llanandras Park has also arranged friendlies against Clee Hill and Wellington at home and Knighton Town, Ludlow Town and Hinton away. Presteigne, who were due to hold their annual meeting last night (Thursday) commence training on Wednesday June 27.
