This was the scene at Birmingham's New Street Station on Thursday evening (November 2) as a Free Palestine protest got underway during rush hour. A huge crowd formed to show their support to those caught up in the deadly conflict that has killed more than 10,000 people in Gaza and Israel.

They gathered on the concourse floor, near Ozzy the bull, holding banners calling for a ceasefire and waving flags under the departure and arrival boards. The large crowd could be heard chanting a number of names, including Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer, followed by "shame on you".

In another clip, posted on social media site X, a chorus of "Palestine will be free" can be heard. The station was said to be "really busy" as the sit-down demonstration was taking place, with "lots of police" present.

A similar protest took place at Liverpool Street Station in London earlier this week.

This is not the first protest to take place in the city in recent weeks - streets were brought to a standstill on October 21, with some demonstrators scaling the Primark on High Street and New Street's Odeon.
