Charleville chaos: Rival gangs turn Holy Cross Cemetery into battleground

CO CORK, Ireland The footage of masked men armed with pitchforks, slash hooks, and shovels chasing down members of a rival crew in a graveyard has gone viral on social media.

The incident is believed to have occurred recently, as two groups became embroiled in a new dispute in Charleville, north Cork.

Both sides have been posting provocative videos online, with one man claiming that his opponents are "dead" and "going down" when he sees any of them.

According to reports, the thugs lived nearby and used the graveyard as a battleground.

Residents near the Holy Cross Cemetery are concerned that the violence will spill over into the Christmas season.

A resident of the area said: "The elderly are afraid to visit their loved ones in the graveyard due to these young men." In the middle of the day, slash hooks and weapons are carried around, and the graveyard is used as a battleground."

"It appears the gardai have come in to separate them in the run-up to Christmas," said another. Everyone in the neighborhood wants to live in peace."

Local Fianna Fail councilor Ian Doyle has taken steps to alleviate concerns.

"There was an incident over the weekend with young lads, a bit of a feud," he explained. But this is a one-time occurrence. I won't say it was insignificant, but it was a one-time occurrence."

Despite his assurance, the residents are worried.
