On June 23, 2002 Dan Frye and Yoshihiro Takayama went head to head at Pride 21. Frye was coming off an epic win over Ken Shamrock and won both the UFC 8 Tournament and the UFC Ultimate Ultimate 1996 Tournament.
Takayama was coming into the fight with 0-2 MMA record. Despite the obvious difference in class, nobody could have predicted the explosive encounter that unfolded which is now rightfully hailed as one of the greatest fights ever.
Miraculously, both men survived relatively unscathed.
