The Ellan Vannin Gymnastics Club lost thousands of pounds of equipment in floods

A gymnastics club devastated by recent flooding on the Isle of Man has been given a cash donation to replace damaged equipment.

The Ellan Vannin Gymnastics Club flooded on 3 December with children being evacuated on inflatable rafts.

The money will be used to buy new equipment needed to coach children, some with disabilities, between the ages of two and 13.

A spokeswoman said: "I nearly cried when I heard about the donation."

The club has been unable to host classes at the gym since flood water rose to several feet following heavy rain and high winds.

Organisers are still looking to raise money to help repair the competition flooring and major equipment in the main hall.

"We have launched a disaster recovery plan, external and fundraising campaign on our Facebook page," added the spokeswoman.

A spokesman for Permanent Bank International (PBI), which made the donation, said the club does "excellent work providing classes for children."
