After several months of hard work, the enthusiastic Flushing rowers have achieved their aim – to bring rowing back into the community of their village. The re-dedication service was performed by Canon Anthony Phillips who liberally splashed blessed sea water over both boats and the crews. A poem written by Ken Cooper, one of the new club's Trustees was read out and an excerpt from Wind in the Willows was read by James Griffin, a staunch supporter of the club. Canon Anthony Phillips Both were very appropriate with Ken's words of Unity, closely followed by the reading which dealt with the meeting of Mole and Water Rat and Moles introduction to a 'little boat painted blue outside and white within', Flushing Rowing Clubs colours. The club have managed in just a few months to purchase both boats with a substantial donation from a Flushing Resident and an ever growing group of members. They row out of Windsports at Mylor Harbour every weekend and are welcoming new members, young and old. If you wish to join this exciting new project, aimed at increasing your health and fitness whilst having fun within the marine environment, please contact Anne on 01326 376922. Everyone will be made welcome. As Water Rat said about boating in the book Wind in the Willows: 'Nice? It is the only thing'.
