The Basingstoke team gave an amazing performance at the Hampshire County Swimming Championships.

After their usual week of training at Basingstoke Aquadrome, the team’s excitement was building for the intense weekend of County Championships.

The Basingstoke Bluefins team were on Portsmouth pool deck early Saturday morning for an 8.30am warm-up as the last of three weekends of competition began.

It was the turn of the older youth members of the squad to put their weekly 16 hours of training sessions into action.

Bluefins’ Kate Carter said: “Our team is like our family and sport is key to our lifestyle; the hard work was definitely worth it when it came to the thrill of racing.

“I can certainly say I was proud to be wearing my Bluefins shirt and there was clear evidence on poolside that the sporting competition helps us strive and achieve.”

She added: “The success from these championships gives all of us hope at different levels for the rest of the season, from open meets to regionals, nationals and British Championships.”
