We had an interesting match with the Oxford Fire and Rescue team as many players are from local teams, so we know them quite well, which meant loads of fun and banter.

It was good to see our club President Gerald and the ladies Captain Janet attending, catching up with old friends and serving tea and coffee to our visitors before the match.

I don't think I have ever seen the score on the master screen change from one team to the other winning so many times, it was to and froe for most of the match with Banbury nipping in front to finish on top just before the end. Our visiting spectators really enjoyed the spectacle.

A few hours before the match, I had a call from a couple who had to pull out and Helen and Graham put a smile on my face to fill in, many thanks to them for their last-minute inclusion.

I Played against Tom, who started playing bowls the same year at Central and we have always enjoyed a competitive game, this time I took the spoils for a change, no doubt Tom will be trying harder next time.

This Saturday 24th we invite Greyfriars bowls club to play with us at 2 pm for our return match. We would still like to see more names on the play sheets please, for the forthcoming Ed Frost Gala and the few games left for the season, let's go out with a bang to finish off this one.

Please come and support us on Saturday, the “Hub” will be open for tea and coffee.

See you there!
