Getting started with badminton
​
There are plenty of places to play if you're new to badminton or wanting to play a bit more. Here are some suggestions for clubs that welcome players of all standards (not all take complete beginners - please check the details):
Beaufort Badminton Club General Section - a friendly club that welcomes people from all standards, except complete beginners. Monday evenings at Shine Community Sports Hall, Brecon Road, Henleaze, BS9 4DT
No Strings Badminton, Hengrove - all standards pay-as-you-go session at Hengrove Park leisure centre, Mondays from 8pm to 10pm. For more details, ring the sports centre on 0117 937 0200.
Chew Valley badminton club - pay-as-you-go coached/guided sessions on Monday evenings, 8pm to 10pm at Chew Valley leisure centre, BS40 8QB.
Bristol Badminton meet up - all standards session at Kingsdown leisure centre, Mondays from 6pm to 7pm and Thursdays from 6pm to 8pm, Kingsdown sports centre
Bristol Badminton Group
All standards pay-as-you-go sessions. Tuesday evenings at Fairfield School.
Pay to Play, Clevedon - all standards pay-as-you-go session at Strode Leisure Centre, Clevedon, Wednesdays from 10.30am to 1pm and Fridays 1pm to 3pm.
No Strings Badminton, Kingsdown - all standards pay-as-you-go session at Kingsdown sports centre, Wednesdays from 5pm to 6pm. To book, scroll down the page as the activities are arranged alphabetically by title.
No Strings Badminton, Yate - all standards pay-as-you-go session at Yate leisure centre, Wednesdays from 8pm to 10pm. For more details, please phone the leisure centre on 0300 333 0300.

Bristol Swifts - Thursdays 8pm to 10pm and Sundays 4pm to 6pm at Kingsdown sports centre, BS2 8HL
No Strings Badminton, Nailsea - pay-as-you-go all standards sessions on Friday mornings from 10am to 12 noon at Scotch Horn leisure centre, Nailsea. On the website, click the ‘Activities’ dropdown on the left, then tick ‘Racket sports’ and you’ll be able to see the link to book
Pay to Play, Easton - all standards pay-as-you-go session at Easton leisure centre, Saturdays from 4pm to 6pm. You can just turn up, or message Gene Joyner on 07836 581696
Gordano Open Badminton Club - pay-as-you-go all standards sessions from 9am to 11am on Sunday mornings at Gordano School, Portishead. £5, pay and play - just turn up, you don’t need to book in advance

Weston-super-Mare Open Badminton Club - relaxed, flexible and sociable club for a wide range of abilities (it doesn't matter I you haven't played before). Rackets available to borrow free of charge if needed. Book for a session on the Facebook group - booking essential as there is a limit on numbers. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays at Hans Price Academy and Winterstoke Hundred, 8pm to 10pm. Tuesdays and Thursdays at Weston College, Loxton Road, 7pm to 9pm.
