Olav Christopher Jenssen (Born 1954) is active/lives in Sweden, Norway.  Olav Jenssen is known for Painting.

Born in 1954 in Sortland, Norway, Olav Christopher Jenssen studied at the Art Academy in Oslo and in further art institutions.  From 1996 to 2003 he worked as a professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Hamburg.  Since 2007 he has taught as a professor of painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Braunschweig.

Since 1979, Jenssen’s works are regularly presented in numerous solo exhibitions – mainly in Germany and in the art capitals of Scandinavia, including, for example, Oslo, Copenhagen, Stockholm and Helsinki.  Besides, his participation in the documenta IX introduced the artist to an international audience in 1992.

In addition to painting, the artist has also developed an extensive oeuvre of drawings.  Moreover, sculptures and site-specific works form a further part of his artistic activity.  Since 1983, Jenssen has predominantly lived and worked in Berlin, however, temporarily he also lives in Lya, Sweden.
