AFTER fishing hard at a Colne Valley pit throughout spring, with little to show for his efforts and plenty of blanks along the way, specimen angler Paul Faint finally got his just rewards when he landed this superb 5lb 12oz eel.

The 52-year-old, from Waltham Abbey in Essex, chose to target a deep and weedy swim at the undisclosed venue, where he presented his worm hookbait on a Dyson rig – a mega free-running set-up that incorporates a buoyant boom to keep the run ring and end tackle just above any lakebed detritus.

The specialised presentation certainly worked for Paul, because his session produced two bites – the other being from another good eel weighing 4lb 3oz.
