Blowing out of SoCal, Starlite Pulp hits you like a hot blast of Mojave Desert wind. The second issue, just like the first, brings a collection of stories entertaining, frightful, disturbing and, most of all, thought-provoking. To label SP simply as a "crime fiction review" does it a disservice. As the editors say in the preface, this collection of sub-genre stories spans a wide variety of edgy and unusual storytelling. With echoes of Cormac McCarthy, Flannery O'Connor, and even The Twilight Zone, Starlite Pulp is quickly establishing itself as a unique voice, and reading the stories is not unlike finding a rose in a barren desert.

A fine, fine, fine collection compiled by the great Brian Townsley. It contains some varied and very fine stories by some of today's best noir and crime writers such as Alec Cizak and Gabriel Hart. The stories cover subjects from the JFK assassination, hostages, a surreal post-apocalyptic western in the vein of Cormac McCarthy, and a 21st century take on Thelma and Louise (Nevada McPherson's excellent "Scattershot"). Not a dud in the bunch, all gathered in this beautifully designed book. Get your copy ASAP!

A well crafted short story collection, Starlite Pulp’s second review does a great job of featuring first rate stories which demonstrate the variety of pulp genres. None of the stories overstay their welcome, ending at the right time to leave you wanting more.
