The 2015-16 tryout information is now available!  All prospective cheerleaders must be accepted to Wayne State College PRIOR to tryouts. You must be a full time student at WSC to be a Cheerleader. Open tryouts are ONLY open to graduating seniors in high school and college-aged students.
            Tryouts will consist of learning; a dance, 1 cheer, 2 chants, and base and optional fly in an all girls stunt group. Required cheerleading experience; tumbling and stunting experience are a plus! Remember to bring proof of medical insurance  including the policy number. Those under the age of 18 will need a parent's signature on the waiver form. Any one wanting to tryout needs to undergo a physical filling out the form attached. If one has gotten a physical within the last 6 months a physical is not needed but we will need a copy of the physical taken within the last 6 months. You will not be permitted to tryout without both a signed waiver form, a copy of insurance card (Front AND Back) and the Sickle Cell trait testing form signed.  
            Tryouts will be held at Rice Auditorium on WSC campus.  Anyone looking to try out should wear black shorts, a white shirt and cheerleading shoes or tennis shoes to the day of tryouts (Sunday April 12th). You may be asked to remove or change baggy tee shirts or sloppy athletic shorts for safety reasons.  Please take into consideration the material presented on the shirts as well. Obscenities, derogatory comments, and other colleges apparel are not appropriate. In order to tryout you bring the WSC athletic tryout form, WSC athletic physcial form (filled out by a physician) and a copy of your insurance card (front and back). Both forms can be found at the bottom of this release.
            Video tapes will be accepted. The video must include 1 dance, 2 cheers, 2 jumps, extra skills (stunting or tumbling) and explaining why you want to be a WSC Cheerleader. The videotape deadline will be April 10, 2015. There are hotels in Wayne to stay at if anyone needs to; K-D Inn Motel, Super 8, Cobblestone Inn, and Sports Club Motel. Students are welcome to stay with a former cheerleader if arranged ahead of time.
            The 2015-16 WSC cheerleading squad will cheer at all home football and basketball games including some volleyball games as well as other activities upon request.
