Worcester, Mass. – UMBC freshman diver
Anders Logas and the Retriever 200 yard medley relay squad captured gold on the first day of the 2023 America East Championships.
Logas earned first place on the 1-meter board with a finals score of 283.20, a 26.8-point improve from his fifth-place qualifying mark. He bested Bryant's Drew Arnold by .10 points. The Texas native becomes the first Retriever diver to earn gold in five years. As a sophomore, Ben Parker, '20, earned gold on the 3-meter board in 2018.

Will Henrickson earned 14 points for UMBC with a fifth-place effort (256.65).
The Retrievers capped the evening by setting a conference, meet and pool record in the 200 medley relay. The quartet of juniors

Bode Neale, along with sophomore
Oliver Gassmann posted a mark of 1:27.18, edging Binghamton by less than one second. Nicusan took the lead for UMBC on the second (breaststroke) leg and the Retrievers held off the Bearcats for the win.
UMBC finished second in the 800 freestyle relay, as it was the Bearcats taking the first swimming event of the competition.
Through three events, the top three teams are separated by five points. Newcomer Bryant leads with 113, followed by UMBC (111) and Binghamton (108).
