Batley have won both their warm up games so far against both championship and championship one opposition in Dewsbury (12-4) on Boxing Day and North wales Saturday (36-18), meanwhile Hunslet have faced Leeds Rhinos and Featherstone Rovers which as seen a 22-18 loss to the Rhinos and a 24-10 loss on Sunday to Rovers.

Team news

Batley could welcome back Brad Day and James Davey who both missed Saturday’s game with North Wales due to slight knocks, Batley coach John Kear will be looking towards his side preparations towards the championship opener with Leigh Centurions and been consistent over 80 minutes without been sloppy after scoring tries also Kear wants to bang on with selection leading up the league opener.

New Hunslet coach Matt Bramald will be looking for his side to build on their first half performance at Featherstone which his side lead 10-6 at the half time against the championship opposition, Hunslet are also building to their championship one season plus the I Pro cup. Bramald reflected “We went toe-to-toe with them and scored two tries, which was pleasing. One was nicely constructed with a bit of passing in there and George Flanagan scored a nice try as well”.

Bramald also added “Effort and commitment were things we talked about and they did that,There’s a few bits and pieces to work on, but overall I was reasonably happy.”

Former Players

Hunslet could feature five former Bulldogs against them on Sunday these been Danny Thomas, George Flanagan, Chris Buttery, Ayden Faal and Simon Brown who have featured for the Bulldogs at one time or another, the coaching staff is like a reunion too which sees Danny Maun and Mark Moxon who have both featured at the South Leeds Stadium in the past, while Matt Bramald and Mark Cass both played in the Bulldog colours.
