Recapping the USA Wrestling Olympic Team Trials

UNIVERSITY PARK, Penn. – Sun Devil Wrestling and Sunkist Kids Wrestling Club (SKWC) were on display throughout USA Wrestling's Olympic Team Trials this weekend in State College, as three punched their tickets to the Summer Games in Paris and two more reached the final Championship Series.

SKWC's Kayla Miracle (62 kg), Kennedy Blades (76 kg) and Helen Maroulis (57 kg) each earned wins in the best-of-three Championship Series on Saturday evening at the Bryce Jordan Center and will represent Team USA this summer at the Games. Blades is still a student at ASU, who trains with the SKWC on campus in Tempe.

Cohlton Schultz, Sun Devil Wrestling's standout heavyweight, was on the doorstep of his first career Olympics appearance. Up 1-0 in the Championship Series against opponent Adam Coon (CKWC/NYAC), Schultz couldn't put the Fowlerville, Michigan, native away, who rallied to win the next two matches to take the Greco-Roman 130 kg bracket. Like Schultz, Forrest Molinari (68 kg) fell to Amit Elor (NYCRTC / TMWC) in the Championship Series.

Eight total wrestlers competed this weekend in State College, five of which reached Saturday's final round, signaling the kind of talent residing in ASU's wrestling room. Kaleb Larkin, a true freshman for the Sun Devils this season, wowed many this week as he teched Matthew Kolodzik and nearly toppled four-time NCAA champion Yianni Diakomihalis in the opening rounds on Friday.

On Friday, USA Wrestling named Schultz its Greco-Roman Wrestler of the Year, further cementing his international success and legacy.

THANK YOU, ART MARTORI!
It was yet another prominent weekend for the Sunkist Wrestling Kids Club. We say thank you, once more, to legendary owner Art Martori, who has decided to retire as the owner of the legendary club. Over 20 Olympic medalists, all of which came up through Sunkist, attended the Sun Devils' dual against Nebraska in February to honor the work and impact of the Martori family.

Thank you, Art Martori!

The No. 1 wrestling club in the world, Sunkist Kids was founded in 1976 as a tool to help the nation's best wrestlers in their quest to win world and Olympic gold medals.
