My KITT Mustang Replica Completed

Well, I finally completed my Mustang Knight Rider replica. I am still not sure about the matte black stripes, so I am leaving them off for now. I added the Trufiber Venom hood with twist locks, and had a custom made light made to fit inside the hood scoops. I picked up a pair of 2010 Mustang wheels on ebay, which look pretty close to the KR wheels. So guys and gals, what do you think?

Bill

That's one heck of a nice looking car.

Those 2010 Wheels do look alot like the 18" KR Alcoas.

Thanks! I got them as new car take offs for only $825 with the tires. Only had 25 miles on them. The owner was doing a Roush conversion.

Looks great!! I am still bitter the show didn't get a second season. I actually liked it. Especially since KITT was a Shelby!

Do the stripes. They look awesome. Otherwise, nice looking car, and the takeoff wheels were a good choice. Really fit it well.

Stripes are down the road a bit. $850 for tape or $1500 for paint with flat clear on top. Still concerned that the paint ones won't look right, and the tape causes issues if you hit it with wax.

Thanks for all the compliments....it has been a fun project so far.

Can you show us a picture with the hood open to see how you fabbed up the twist locks?

Sure....the Trufiber kit costs about $150 for the hood pins. It is very simple to install...and very clean looking.

That looks great!

How was the overall quality of the hood? Lots of bodyshop prep work??

Bill,

Very nice KR conversion. I went with the Black matte racing stripes and it is a nice touch. But I rent my car out as chauffeur driven and I had to stick with the Knight Rider mods. My only departure from the KR was tinted windows, wing mirrors w/indicators and Spidero 20 inch chrome wheels vice the Alcoas. I really like your scanner, where did you get it from?

I guy named Jason made the scanner for me for $400. He sells them on Ebay as a custom order. Just type in Knight Rider, and you should find it. I think he may be using photos of my car now to help sell the Mustang Scanners.

As for the Trufiber hood, it need plenty of prep. The body shop had to shoot the primer 4 times, as they kept seeing pinholes. As for fit, no issues at all. Overall, a great product.

Nice cars guys! I think I've seen yours before Bill on KRO. Smokehouse I don't think I've seen yours before. Where did you get your hood? It doesn't look like the Trufiber Venom I've got.
