WARWICK Boat Club hosted their annual Warwick Town Triples finals last weekend as Snitterfield Bowls Club came away with the trophy.
Some 16 local teams from within the Warwick district took part over the course of the season with only four triples advancing to the finals.
The day began with the two semi-finals as a team from Warwick Boat Club played in both last four ties against Avenue and Snitterfield respectively.
Defending Warwick Boat Club champions Diane Harvey, Peter Boardman and Mary Wheildon were knocked out by the formidable Snitterfield trio of Richard Freeston and David and Debbie Bloxham who won by 20 shots to 5 in a high quality affair.
The second semi-final saw the Warwick Boat Club team of Jacqui Ashley, Chris Hurst and skip, David Hurst edge out the Avenue team of Dawn and Paul Chapman and skip Barry Connolly.
Warwick’s trio recovered from an eight-shot deficit to level the match at 14-all heading into the final end before the umpire was called upon to measure which bowl was closest to the jack in a tense finish with Warwick declared the winners.
And both Warwick and Snitterfield made a steady start in the final, which was level after three ends, before the latter team pulled clear after taking six shots on the fourth end.
Snitterfield would then win seven of the next eight ends to take a commanding 19-6 lead after 13 ends before Warwick mounted a comeback.
However, Snitterfield held on to claim a 20-12 victory and were presented with their medals and trophy by the Mayor of Warwick, Mr Parminder Singh Birdi.
