Tag rugby victory

Gastrells 9

Cashed Green 1

After working on tag rugby in PE this term it was fantastic to take 13 Sparrowhawks to Cashes Green to play a competitive game. I was incredibly impressed with their passing, running with the ball and overall teamwork. A particular well done to those who were playing their first ever tag rugby match.

Sporting success in Sparrowhawks

It has been a brilliant week of sport in Sparrowhawks with children representing the school in gymnastics, archery and netball.

The gymnasts performed sensationally at the county finals, showing nerves of steel to finish an impressive 5th overall! Our archery teams travelled to Archway to compete against a number of other schools, we are still awaiting the finals rankings. Finally our netballers beat local rivals Rodborough 13-0 at home in a great team performance.

British Indoor Athletics

Lots of children from Sparrowhawks were part of a group who visited the Birmingham Indoor Arena last weekend to watch the British Indoor Athletics. We all had a superb time watching the incredible athletes, testing our own speed and printed our own race bibs! The children even got to meet and have a picture with Katrina Johnson-Thompson, the world Indoor pentathlon champion!

A huge congratulations to our Y3/4 gymnastics team, who on Friday won the Stroud District Key Steps Gymnastics competition at Stratford Park Leisure Centre. Furthermore, with team 2 finishing in 4th place it was a very successful morning of gymnastics. All the children completed a floor routine as well as two vaults.

We are now looking forward to preparing for the county finals!

I am extremely proud of all the children who took part including Fin who took part in the intermediate competition in the afternoon – Mr Muskett
