Five Huskies Place at Roger Williams Invitational

Southern Maine Finishes Seventh (84.5 points)

BRISTOL, R.I. – Senior Jake Peavey (South China, Maine/Erskine Academy) placed second in the 285 bracket to highlight five place winners for the University of Southern Maine Huskies' wrestling team at the 2021 Roger Williams Invitational Saturday afternoon at Roger Williams University.

Southern Maine placed seventh out of 10 competing teams with a score of 84.5

Husky Highlights:
125: Senior Antoine Grace (Queensbury, N.Y.) placed sixth in his bracket, earning a pair of wins by decision.

133: Sophomore Ethan Ford (North Andover, Mass.) placed fifth and picked up a 13-7 win by decision over the sixth ranked wrestling in NEWA Nick DeSola of Johnson & Wales.

149: Freshman Colby Frost (Steep Falls, Maine/Bonny Eagle) went 4-2, including two wins by fall, and earned a fourth place finish. Frost earned a 12-3 major decision win over Dario Molina of Wesleyan. Molina is ranked sixth in NEWA.

184: Graduate student Aidan Whitis (Gorham, Maine/Phillips Exeter) placed sixth in his first tournament as a Husky.

285: Ranked third in NEWA at 285, Peavey earned a massive win by fall over top-ranked Ryan Higgins of Bridgewater in the championship semifinal. Peavey put Higgins to the mat in 24 seconds. In the championship match, Peavey lost a close bout 4-3 to Johnson & Wales Liridon Leka 4-3.

174: Senior David Kurker (Needham, Mass.) earned a 3-2 decision over Bridgewater's Fox Maxwell – the third ranked wrestler in NEWA.
